Part of our new Parenting Series, join us for a lecture with nutritionist Suzanne Tennis.  The topic will be "How to Help Your Kids Eat Balanced Meals: Dealing With Under & Over Eaters".

Dr. Tennis sees parents most troubled by picky eaters and also by kids that never stop eating! The solutions to both these extreme type of eating behaviors are the same. During the event, we will go over guidelines for parents that will help them teach their children about the reasons behind food groupings, meal timing issues, appetite regulation, green food phobia syndrome (hum...), and creating complex carb/protein combinations that work forthe family. Most importantly, Dr. Tennis will discuss the dynamics between parents and kids as related to role modeling, control issues, and emotional eating. The focus of the talk will be simplicity and solutions.

Bio: Dr. Suzanne Tennis is a Preventive Care Specialist & Nutritionistwho has worked in her San Carlos office with kids and their parents since 1989. She has been specializing in children's nutrition far before the term "national childhood obesity" went mainstream. She has also taught nutrition and health at many California colleges. Her office is on Laurel Street, across from the Reading Bug. She can be reached at 650-637-0480.

A special event for children to celebrate their love of their Grandparents for Valentine's Day!

Join us when Author Ashley Wolff visits The Bug to sign copies of her beautiful books, I Call My Grandma Nana and I Call My Grandpa Papa.

We'll also be taking photos of children with their grandparents and printing them on the spot to paste onto a Valentine or into the front of the book, where there is a special frame. You can also bring a picture from home if your Grandparents live far away.

Recommended for age 3+

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: There seems to be no thrill like becoming a grandmother. ASHLEY WOLFF
knows so many joyful, energetic, and downright hip Nanas, Abuelitas,
and Grandmas that she had to write a book to celebrate how special each
one is. Ashley has written and/or illustrated more than fifty books
including Baby Beluga, Stella and Roy Go Camping, Miss Bindergarten
Gets Ready for Kindergarten, When Lucy Goes Out Walking, The Wild
Little Horse,
and Mama's Milk. She lives in San Francisco
with her husband, Sabin, and border collie, Lucy. Ashley hopes that
someday her two sons will make her a Granny, too.
